The 2008 National Diversity in Libraries Conference (NDLC)

Sponsored by the libraries of the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville,  the University of Kentucky School of Library and Information Science, and the Association of Research Libraries Diversity Initiatives, the 2008 NDLC will take place from October 1 through October 4, 2008 in Louisville, KY.

Session proposals are being accepted through January 31st, 2008.  Suggested subject tracks include administration/management/leadership, collections, recruitment/retention/staff development, health literacy, programming, technology, and user services/outreach.

Proposals should be submitted through the conference website.

NCORE 2008

The 21st Annual National Conference on Race and Ethnicity will be held in Orlando, FL from May 27-May 31, 2008.   “The NCORE conference series constitutes the leading and most comprehensive national forum on issues of race and ethnicity in American higher education. The conference focuses on the complex task of creating and sustaining comprehensive institutional change designed to improve racial and ethnic relations on campus and to expand opportunities for educational access and success by culturally diverse, traditionally underrepresented populations.”

Conference participants include senior administrative officers, academic affairs administrators, deans, department chairs, and teaching faculty; directors and staff of offices of affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, and minority affairs; representatives of state and national institutes, associations, agencies, commissions, and foundations; and leaders of student organizations.  The 21st Conference will include interactive presentations, five workshops, a series of discussions, caucus meetings, and more.
